Cost of Safelite

How much you pay for Safelite will depend on whether your car insurance policy covers glass. If you have comprehensive coverage, you may be fully covered for glass repairs and replacements, minus a deductible. Safelite works with most insurance providers to cover auto glass claims.

If your service is not covered by insurance, Safelite is still a relatively affordable choice.

The price of services for your particular vehicle may be higher or lower than the standard, though, because numerous factors influence the cost of auto glass repairs and replacements. For example, a luxury vehicle such as a BMW will cost more than a Honda Fit. Factors that may affect price include:

  • Make, model, and year of your vehicle
  • Type of damage
  • Location of damage
  • Type of glass
  • Sensors and wipers
  • Preferred brand of service

Safelite repairs quarter-sized rock chips and cracks up to 3 inches long before recommending windshield replacement.

Getting a Quote from Safelite

For a windshield replacement quote or estimate on some other type of auto glass repair from Safelite AutoGlass, all you need is information about your vehicle and the damage. You can then review your options for out-of-pocket costs or handling costs through your car insurance company.

Safelite AutoGlass Reviews and Ratings

Safelite has a strong reputation in the industry, with an A+ rating from the BBB based on the transparency of company practices and customer complaints. Safelite reviews, however, are mixed depending on location. One Safelite glass review in Raleigh, NC praised the provider’s communication and level of service.

Booked online and was fixed in less than [two] days. They updated my status via text message regularly and even sent a photo of the technician prior to his arrival. Guy was in and out super-fast and did a flawless job. They have also reached out to confirm that I was indeed satisfied.”

– Jaime G. via Google

Most complaints revolve around long wait times on the phone and mobile technicians arriving late or canceling after the time window had already passed. Some negative Safelite windshield replacement reviews concern technicians bringing the wrong brand of windshield for the car, and some Safelite glass repair reviews complain about damages.

I had a windshield repaired by this company, and during the process, the technician damaged our 2018 Dodge Charger. He allowed the door of my 2013 Toyota Tundra to rub against the freshly painted Charger. ... Pictures were taken and the door aligned up perfectly with the wear-down on the Charger, [but] the store manager continues to refuse to take responsibility for what his technician did. We have submitted two estimates for the repair. Both are within $50 of one another. It has been over a month, and the argument continues. ... I suggest that you go with a smaller windshield repair company that cares about how you are treated.

– Eric via BBB

Taken together, Safelite reviews are quite mixed. We recommend reading Safelite reviews in your area to get a better idea of the level of customer service and expertise you can expect.
